JCC Rainbow Day Camp

The Albert & Ann Deshur JCC Rainbow Day Camp is an inclusive summer camp, guided by Jewish values, for children and teens that fosters personal development, friendship and community. Located on 115-acres of wooded and rolling countryside in rural Wisconsin, the camp has recently undertaken a number of recent improvements, including a new aquatic center, new fishing pond, and cabin renovations. TKWA was hired to develop a long-range strategic master plan to identify additional near-term and long-term site and facility improvements.

Key master plan components include reconfiguration of the entire camp into new activity zones that organize the camp spatially while guiding future development. A new ‘Welcome to Camp’ zone reconfigures the entrance road into camp, providing greater security and reducing traffic on the primary road currently bisecting the camp.  A new maintenance compound will be added. A new ‘Heart of Camp’  Welcome Center and parking area improves the entry experience for visitors to camp.  New  ‘Organized Play’ and ‘Wild Adventure’ zones take advantage of underutilized camp spaces to create more active play areas. The ‘Exploring Nature’ zone expands nature-based activities , including wildflower meadow, naturalized trails, and Lake Huiras teaching dock.
