Redeemer United Church of Christ
The Redeemer UCC church represents the story of a congregation coming together and rebuilding after a fire destroyed their original facility. The congregation chose to rebuild on their original 10-acre suburban Milwaukee site, but in rebuilding an opportunity was created to design a facility that advanced sustainable design principles.
The new facility was sited with an east-west orientation to take advantage of south-facing daylight and to maximize the aesthetic impact of the restored native prairie. This prairie restoration project, which incorporates sustainable stormwater management techniques, is also part of the overall site plan.
