TKWA was hired by Chicago-based developer, Baum Revision, to help craft a plan for adaptive reuse of the historic Garver Feed Mill in Madison, Wisconsin. The goal is to create a vibrant place that respects the character of the original building while providing modern spaces for producers, artisan food makers, wellness studios, and hospitality providers.

The project has three primary goals:

•   Restore the historic landmark, which was first built in 1906 for the United States Sugar Company and later converted into the Garver Feed Mill in 1929.

•   Establish Garver Feed Mill’s core function as an artisan food production facility.

•   Establish Garver Feed Mill as a high-profile destination within the region’s innovative and growing local foods movement.

TKWA provided design services for the site, building exterior, and public outdoor spaces. Our work extended to the interior design of the Mill’s common spaces as well as several tenants – Ian’s Pizza, Calliope Ice Cream, Garver Events, Kosa Spa, NessAlla Kombucha, Twig and Olive Photography.
